New Zealand

A holiday to New Zealand is likely to be packed full of adventure and exploration, with beautiful, unspoiled landscapes waiting to take your breath away. You will need plenty of film rolls and disk space in order to capture moment after moment of unrivalled scenery. As you travel across the two main islands (North and South) you might be forgiven for thinking the vistas look somewhat familiar.

The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy and the Hobbit Trilogy were filmed in the country and the stunning scenery can be seen in large portions of the movies.

As well as the impressive natural sights such as mountains, lakes, glaciers, volcanoes and forests, there are also some major cities to take in along the way. Most of the larger cities such as Auckland, Wellington and Hamilton are on the North Island, whilst Christchurch is the biggest city on the South Island.

So, there are plenty of places to visit and things to do on your travels throughout the country and perhaps one of the best ways to see it all is to check out one of the escorted tours to New Zealand.

Auckland – It may not lay claim to being the capital of New Zealand (Wellington) but Auckland is the largest city on either of the two islands. It’s full of all the things you would expect from a high quality city and is a haven for shoppers and for those who love to dine out in one of the many delightful restaurants. The harbour area is a particular draw which is a hive of activity both day and night. If you are a sports fan, then you may be lucky enough to be in town when the All Blacks or the Black Caps are staging rugby or cricket (respectively) matches at the Eden Park Stadium.

Wellington – The Capital of New Zealand was given the nickname of “the coolest little capital in the world” by Lonely Planet in 2011, so that goes someway to telling you that it’s well worth including on your New Zealand escorted tours. As well as all the shops, eateries, museums and the famous Wellington cable car, there are also a host of attractions surrounding the city and nearby areas. Mount Victoria and Mount Kaukau are nearby and offer stunning panoramas.

Christchurch – The largest city on the South Island is now well on the road to recovery after the devastating earthquake of 2011 and remains one of the major tourist attractions in New Zealand. Check out the botanical gardens, Cathedral Square and Canterbury museum in between shopping trips and great restaurants.

While you are on the South Island, the list of places worth visiting is long and varied, so here are just a few worth checking out: Lake Pukaki, Lake Wanaka, Queenstown, the Waitaki Valley, Nelson and Marlborough.

For adventure seekers and holidaymakers, New Zealand is a mouth watering prospect but to ensure you get to see all the best bits it’s important to have a structured itinerary. Please contact for much more information about any of our escorted tours to New Zealand.
