Based on recent travel trends, we know that many of our customers are looking to take a holiday in pastures new; somewhere theyve never been before. Read below for ten of the predicted off the beaten track destinations for 2023.
Its Colombias third-largest city and one of the oldest in America, Cali is being hailed as a new must-see destination of 2020. Known for its Salsa music and Neoclassical architecture, Cali is home to a number of exciting attractions. Be sure to check out the cat sculptures by local artist, Hernando Tejada, in Cat Park, the 26m high statue of Christ on Cristo Rey Hill, and the arty neighbourhood of El Penon. For a comprehensive escorted tour of Colombia, that will provide you with your own tour manager, why not consider Exodus‘ Discover Colombia tour, which will take you from Bogota, to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaguira, before travelling onwards through the national parks and coffee plantations, to end up in Cartagena, and finally the beautiful Islas Rosarias.
Located on Floridas Atlantic coast, Cape Canaveral is famous for housing the Kennedy Space Centre. Its still an active launch station and you can see the astronauts in training. Its a great way to gain an insight into Americas contribution to the space race. In addition to this main attraction, youll find lots to entertain you at this lively cruise port, including pristine beaches, great shopping, and even a zoo. To view Cape Canaveral as part of a wider tour of the Americas, you might like to try G Adventures The Great American Road Trip – LA to New York This 53-day tour hits all the marks, going coast-to-coast from bustling cities to incredible natural wonders, and charming small towns in between.
Its right on our doorstep, but how many of us have ventured as far north as the Scottish Highlands, or even understand just how beautiful the landscapes are up here? With its lochs and mountains, mighty stags, neaps and tatties, youre certainly aware youre in a whole different country. Theres plenty of great outdoors to roam in here, but the parks are also an experience. Try out Duthie Park, Seaton Park, and Hazlewood Park, for some cultured greenery. Theres also the art galleries, the Gordon Highlanders Museum and the Maritime Museum to keep the little ones busy if its raining. Our travel partner, Great Rail Journeys does a great trip here called Orkney, Shetland and the Highlands, which will take you to Loch Ness, John OGroats, and the islands.
Situated on the east coast of Vancouver Island in British Colombia, Canada, Courtney is a foodie and spa town with plenty of art to enjoy. Its also worth celebrating the beautiful, wild scenery in these parts by hiking or mountain biking up the Boston Ridge Trail, taking a picnic under Nymph falls, or going on a day trip to Seal Bay Nature Park. Great Rail Journeys offers an exclusive tour here that will take you through the Rocky Mountains on a luxurious train to reach Vancouver.
Looking for a wilder, more untamed look to the beaches you visit? Then why not consider Brazils surfing paradise, Ubatuba? There are over 100 incredible beaches, fringed by rainforest, to explore here on the south-east coast of Brazil, nestled between Rio de Janeiro and So Paulo. Rio, Iguassu and the Pantanal is one of our best suggestions for getting to know this part of the world!
The French Alpes are awash with ski areas, so what makes this place so special? For a start, its a great family resort. Youll find kids clubs and plenty for them to do off-piste as well. There are 445 km of runs, of varying levels, and luxury accommodation to keep you in gourmet fondu and fine wines. Whether you ski downhill, cross country, snowboard, or freestyle, our packages have tuition to suit all stages of expertise and can surely help you hone your skills. A couple of our favourite ski tour operators are Club Med and Mark Warner. Get in touch to find out more about the enormous range of ski holidays we offer!
The capital of Japan is a neon metropolis quite unlike anywhere else in the world. Lit up by cherry blossom and covered in parks, shrines and incredible shopping areas, everyone should visit Tokyo at least once in their lives. Our favourite package to this city is by Wendy Wu, and it gives you a comprehensive tour of all of the highlights, as well as takes you to the foot of the iconic Mount Fuji on the Bullet Train. Fittingly, its called Tokyo, Mount Fuji and the Bullet Train
When people think of southern India, they tend to picture gorgeous beaches, picturesque mangroves, and delicious, tropical, coconut-infused cuisine. This sums up Kerala perfectly. Highlights of the region include Thekkady; a base for elephant and tiger safaris in the Periyar National Park, Thirappilly Water Falls, Varkala beach, the huge bird reserve on Indias longest lake, Lake Vembanad and Chambra Mountain. If you decide to take the A Taste of Kerala trip, which we fully recommend, youll also see the European settlements of Kochi, climb the Cardamom Hills, enjoy a spice cruise, and refine your cookery skills during a class in Mundackal.
This tropical pocket of south-east Kenya offers a laid back atmosphere and a beautiful base for snorkelling and diving. The waters are warm and crystal clear, so youll have no trouble seeing the colourful fish swimming in and out of the coral reefs, not to mention the turtles as they make their way past you. Theres also excellent nightlife here. Why combine an African beach holiday with a safari. Somak do safaris very week and their game drives in Kenya will take you to see the big cats!
Topical Maastricht is the birthplace of the European Union, but it has so much more to offer than just its administrative centre. The architecture and cuisine is influenced by the Spanish and the French, both of whom ruled here separately in the past, but the flat landscape is pure Netherlands. While youre here, be sure to check out the stunning 11th-centuryBasilica of Saint Servatius, the caf-lined square known as Vrijthof and the Bonnefantenmuseum, with its myriad of art collections. To make a full and informed discovery of the lowlands of Europe, we recommend Avalon Waterwayss Pride of Belgium river cruise. Itll take you from Amsterdam to Rotterdam, Ghent, Antwerp and Maastricht!
