For the first half of your stay, youll be centrally based in Palermo. In Catania, youll find yourself in the heart of the Carnivale and one of Sicilys best-loved festivals. Take a horse-drawn carriage, decorated for the occasion, and listen to live folk poetry, wherever it may spring up. The kids will love the colourful floats, not to mention the sweets thrown from them. Expect masks and mischief. The next day you will be able to step back in time to Dutch 18th and 19th century times. Cruise and explore the Zaan region as you discover industrial Dutch time, where today, there is hundreds of windmills in the production of a wide variety of different items. Discover other traditional houses, warehouses, workshops and reconstructed windmills as you get a glimpse into the past.
On this trip, you can also discover the picturesque region of Enkhuizen, a town made wealthy by its association with the Dutch East India Company. Your final day of this exciting tour ends in the ever so popular city of Amsterdam. You will arrive around lunchtime giving the whole afternoon to explore. It is very easy to wander around the pedestrian-friendly city where you can explore the Royal Palace, discover the wealth of art in one of the many museums, see Anne Frank’s House or admire the painting of the world-famous Van Gogh. Towards the end of your cruise, youll enjoy the attractions and 7 fjords around the city of Bergen, where the traditional half-timbered architecture is reminiscent of how Norway looked 900 years ago. Then finally youll cruise into Lysefjord,
with its dramatic cliffs and famous rock features. Keep an eye out for wildlife drinking at the waters edge. This is one of Norways most remote settlements.
