Day 1
UK-Punta Cana

After taking Sagas included UK door-to-door travel service to the airport, fly to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, where you’ll spend three nights on an all-inclusive basis at the Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa (4Q+). D

Day 2
Punta Cana

Climb aboard a typical Dominican bus with its ‘thatched’ roof of cana leaves and venture on a tour to see true Dominican life. You’ll visit a farm, a school and factory on your travels through lush countryside and sugar cane fields. B, L, D

Punta Cana

Enjoy a day at leisure to relax at your hotel, or take an optional trip to the tropical paradise of Saona Island. B, L, D

Day 4
Santo Domingo

Set off for the colonial city of Santo Domingo, founded by Christopher Colombus’ brother. En route you’ll visit the caves of Cueva de la Maravillas in San Pedro de Macoris, noted for their stalactites and wall drawings by the native Taino people. Stay for the next two nights at the Holiday Inn (4Q), in Santo Domingo with breakfasts included. This evening enjoy a traditional dinner in a local restaurant and a merengue dance performance. B, D

Day 5
Santo Domingo

A tour introduces you to this remarkable city dating from the 15th century and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The starting point for the expansion of European culture, its highlights include the first cathedral of the New World and the historic city centre with its criss-crossing streets and early buildings. You’ll also leave the city to visit the famous Faro a Colon a huge, modern landmark monument and mausoleum claiming to house Christopher Columbus’ remains. You’ll also visit the beautiful National Botanical Gardens. B, L, D

Day 6
Puerto Plata

Cross the island from south to north as you travel to Puerto Plata, with a tour of the city of Santiago de los Caballeros en route. Puerto Plata the ‘Silver Port’ was named by Columbus because of the colour of its waters at dusk. Spend five nights on an all-inclusive basis at the Gran Ventana Beach Resort (4Q). B, L, D

Day 7
Puerto Plata

Today is at leisure perfect for some independent exploring, or relaxing on the golden sandy beach beside your hotel. Alternatively, join an optional excursion to discover coffee and cacao cultivation and visit a family home. B, L, D

Visit a cenote or ‘sinkhole’ filled with turquoise water and lined with orchids and bromeliads, beneath a towering cliff and discover more about the extraordinary ecosystems of the Dominican Republic.

Day 8
Puerto Plata

A city tour today introduces you to Puerto Plata’s Victorian-style houses and central park before you travel by cable car to the top of the 800-metre ‘Isabel del Torres’ mountain for views over the city. Afterwards visit the Amber Museum and a rum factory. B, L, D

Day 9
Cayo Arena

Travel to the tiny sand island of Cayo Arena, surrounded by a coral reef. Marvel at the clear waters, perhaps go snorkelling, then enjoy a boat trip through the mangroves in the nearby Montecristi National Park. B, L, D

Day 10
Puerto Plata

Choose how you spend today, before setting off this evening for the spectacular Bravissimo Show. Enjoy dinner then take your seats for this Caribbean extravaganza of music and dance. B, L, D

Day 11
Punta Cana

You return to Punta Cana today, stopping en route at the Plaza Agara Mall Santo Domingo, with time for lunch (not included) and shopping. Return to Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa where you spend the next four nights on an all-inclusive basis. B, D

Day 12
Punta Cana

Take time out today to relax or explore independently. Alternatively, join an optional Eco tour where you discover a natural underground cenote or ‘sinkhole’ beneath a towering cliff and the extraordinary ecosystems of the Dominican Republic are revealed. B, L, D

Day 13
Punta Cana

Enjoy a day at leisure. This evening, perhaps join an optional excursion to see an exuberant Coco Bongo show. B, L, D

Punta Cana-UK

After lunch, transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK and included door-to-door travel service home.B, L
