Bansko is the gateway to the Pirin mountain region and is certainly Bulgaria’s most up and coming ski resort, and one of the best for ski holidays in Bulgaria. It offers an irresistible combination of high mountains, ancient history and a modern infrastructure, and the Pirin Mountain National Park is on UNESCO’s List of World Heritage Sites. Its diverse, newly renovated, wide tree-lined pistes, along with one of the most modern lift systems in Europe give you a wide variety of skiing for any age and level. Accommodation is modern and of a standard that you would expect to see in a much more expensive ski resort. There are a number of local shops in Bansko and a trip to the old town to experience the traditional ‘Mehana’ is a must while on your ski holiday. All in all, Bansko offers a unique skiing, cultural and value for money winter ski holiday.

Important information

Pre-Bookable Ski Packs

You are strongly advised to prebook all ski pack items required before your ski holiday as prices in resort will be approximately double the pre-book price.

Money should be taken in Sterling to change locally. Travellers’ Cheques are subject to a 6% commission and credit cards 10% approximately. Visitors should change their money into local currency as sterling is not widely accepted in the bars and restaurants. Although the cost of living is reasonable, you should bring enough money for the unexpected as it may be difficult to get hold of extra funds although cash points are becoming more widely available. Credit card transactions are made in Bulgarian Leva (Lv) and commission can be expensive.

Holders of UK passports may enter Bulgaria without a visa for up to 30 days in any 6 month period. If you will exceed this duration of stay during your ski holiday in Bulgaria, please contact the Bulgarian Consulate before booking. Holders of full British passports do not need a visa to enter Romania. Holders of passports other than British must enquire at the Consular Department of the Bulgarian or Romanian Embassy respectively for their requirements before booking.
