Overview

Poland reverently respects its history while marching forward in hope. We ponder the power of faith at Krakws wonderful Wawel Cathedral and the Jasna Gra (Bright Hill) Monastery in Czstochowa, a hugely prominent place of pilgrimage. Visiting Warsaw, we celebrate the extraordinary transformation of a place once almost destroyed in war. We spend an emotional day at Auschwitz, learning of the countrys dark past, and an uplifting one touring Wrocaw, a charming contemporary city.

Itinerary

Day 1 UK – Warsaw

Titans VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Warsaw. On arrival, we transfer to our hotel.

Days 2-3 Warsaw

Our Poland holidays begin in Warsaw, a contemporary city dressed in eye-catching architecture. Restored baroque, Gothic, Neoclassical and Renaissance buildings are peppered throughout the Old and New Town, making for a really charming atmosphere at every turn. We waste no time in seeing as much of it as possible on our guided tour of the city. The rest of our time in the city is at leisure. The Royal Castle and the Palace of Cultures and Science are both worth exploring.

Alternatively you could choose to join an optional excursion that takes you to Chopins birthplace in the tiny village of Zelazowa Wola and 17th-century Nieborowie Palace and gardens, for a guided tour. This evening, you might like to take a seat at an optional Chopin concert.

  • Guided tour of Warsaw (morning day 2)

Day 4 Czestochowa – Wroclaw

This morning we make our way to Wroclaw, where we stop for a visit at the Pauline Monastery of Jasna Gora in Czestochowa, the most important pilgrimage centre in Poland. We continue through a mixed landscape of pasture, forests and arable land, to our base for the next two nights, Wroclaw.

  • Guided visit to Czestochowa, including Pauline Monastery in Jasna Gora (afternoon)

Day 5 Wroclaw

This delightful city is regarded by many to be the cradle of the Polish state – it was here that the Polanie tribe built their first settlement. Its medieval centre was badly destroyed at the end of the Second World War and has since been reconstructed in its original style. A short walking tour of the Old Town will reveal its beauty this morning. The rest of the day is at leisure.

  • Guided tour of Wroclaw(morning)

Day 6 Wroclaw

A day at leisure for sightseeing and relaxing. As you explore, look out for the foot-tall bronze dwarfs. They were a symbol of the struggle against communism, brought to life as cheeky statues in 2001, and they now get up to mischief all over the city. An optional excursion is available to Ksiaz castle and the Church of Peace in Swidnica.

Day 7 Krakow

We journey east to Krakow with a stop for lunch; and arrive at our hotel with time for you to start exploring this medieval city.

Day 8 Krakow – Wieliczka

We get to see some of the best bits of Krakow this morning on a guided tour. With its marvellous collection of Gothic and Renaissance buildings mercifully left unscathed by the ravages of the war, this tour is sure to be full of highlights. The old part of the city is dominated by the imposing Wawel Castle and the Cathedral.

In the afternoon we visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mine is renowned for its microclimate and the health-giving properties that resulted in an underground sanatorium being established to treat allergic diseases.

  • Guided tour of Krakow (morning)
  • Guided visit to Wieliczka Salt Mine (afternoon)

Day 9 Auschwitz

Today, we visit Auschwitz concentration camp, which stands as a monument to its victims and declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The outbuildings now form the museum, which contains artefacts belonging to those who perished. You also visit the extermination chambers and see the reconstructed furnaces of the crematoria.

  • Guided tour of Auschwitz (all day)

Day 10 Krakow

Your last day is free to enjoy as you please. An optional excursion is available to the Jewish Quarter (Kazimierz). This guided tour includes the only active synagogue in the city, and the factory where Oskar Schindler was able to save over 1,000 Jews from transportation to the Platzow Concentration Camp in Krakow.

In the evening, youre invited to a folklore dinner, to indulge in traditional Polish cuisine accompanied by a folklore show – the perfect way to complete your Polish holiday.

  • Folklore Show (evening)

Day 11 Krakow – UK

Today we transfer to the airport for a flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
