DAY 1: Depart UK.

DAY 2: Arrive Bangkok.

On arrival in Bangkok you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.

DAY 3: Bangkok – Chiang Mai.

After breakfast, a thrilling day’s sightseeing lies ahead. Take in the city’s principal landmarks such as the splendid Wat Trimitr temple with its precious gold Buddha, Wat Po, home of the stunning reclining Buddha, the gleaming Grand Palace – Thailand’s most sacred monument, and the spectacular Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Late afternoon, transfer to the airport to fly to Chiang Mai. (B)

DAY 4: Chiang Mai – Mae Hong Son.

Drive from Chiang Mai along a winding road through spectacular jungle mountains, via the Pai Valley, to Mae Hong Son province. Stops along the way include an Orchid Farm. Before arriving Mae Hong Son, stop to visit Fish Cave where large fresh water fish live in a mountainside pool. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: Mae Hong Son, including Long Neck Karen Village.

This morning after breakfast, you’ll get the chance to ride through the jungle on elephants. Afterwards, drive in a ‘pick-up’ mini truck through the jungle to visit the ‘Long Neck’ Karen Padaung Village. The Karen Padaung women wear numerous brass coils around their necks and legs. After lunch take a boat trip on Pai River, and then head back to Mae Hong Son. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: Mae Hong Son – Chiang Mai.

Visit the early morning fresh market today and witness the traditional Buddhist offerings. Afterwards, take a sightseeing tour of the Burmese temples on the lakeside, before driving up to visit Wat Phra Dhat Doi Kongmoo on the mountain top, with breathtaking views of this sleepy town. Tonight, experience true Thai culture with a northern Thai style Khantoke dinner whilst watching elegant dancers performing traditional Thai Dancing. (B, L, D)

DAY 7: Chiang Mai.

A full day to enjoy the delights of Chiang Mai. After climbing the steps to visit the Hilltop Temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, marvel at the spectacular views of the Chiang Mai area. In the afternoon, continue onto the district of Sankampaeng, home to Chiang Mai’s famous handicraft industries. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai.

This morning, drive north to Chiang Rai through mountain scenery via Mae Ka Chan, famous for its hot spring. After lunch, transfer to a ‘pick-up’ style truck to climb the narrow mountain roads and enjoy great views from Doi Mae Salong, a Chinese settlement founded by Kuomintang soldiers. (B, L, D)

DAY 9: Chiang Rai.

After breakfast, drive to Mae Sai, Thailand’s northernmost town on the Myanmar border. Visit the renowned Golden Triangle where you can stand on the hilltop and enjoy views over Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and the mighty Mekong River. Afterwards, drive along the Mekong River to Chiang Saen, where evidence of the original 13th century city can still be seen. (B, L, D)

DAY 10: Chiang Rai – Hanoi

After breakfast, drive to Chiang Rai airport for your flight to Hanoi, via Bangkok. (B)

DAY 11: Hanoi.

Start today with a ‘cyclo’ ride through the fascinating Old Quarter or 36 Ancient Streets where peddlers trade as they have for centuries. Then, take a sightseeing tour including a visit the to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, and stop to take a look at the Presidential Palace. After lunch visit the famous Hoa Lo Museum before continuing on to mystical Hoan Kiem Lake, where you will enjoy a brief guided walk. This evening enjoy a fascinating performance of Hanoi’s renowned Water Puppets, a traditional art form dating back to the 11th century, followed by dinner at the Press Club. (B, L, D)

DAY 12: Hanoi – Halong Bay.

After breakfast, travel from Hanoi through the countryside to Bai Chay, the gateway to Halong Bay. Cruise through the scenic bay, with lunch served on-board. Stopping at one of the many bays,
